365 Hurling and Football
We are delighted to have members of our local GAA Club, The Geraldine O’ Hanrahans, come to our school every Tuesday morning to teach hurling to our pupils. They also come on a Thursday morning to teach Gaelic football. All 1st and 2nd Class pupils are encouraged to come to school from 8.15am to play and enjoy this free activity. We aim to encourage more physical activity as part of our Health Promoting Schools Campaign. Participation in team sports helps our pupils develop social skills and team spirit, which we love to promote in our school.
Our Junior and Senior Infant Classes participate in weekly Drama lessons taught by members of Wexford Theatre Company. The children love these lessons while their creative and artistic talents are being nurtured and developed.
The children have the fabulous opportunity to learn how to play the recorder while attending our school. Our recorder teacher, Mr. Pullman, teaches recorder to all our 1st and 2nd classes on a weekly basis. Regular practice in class enabled the children to gain the skill and confidence to perform in front of others, such as at the Christmas concert.
During the 3rd Term of school, our 1st and 2nd class pupils get the opportunity to attend the newly built Apex Sports Complex to attended weekly swimming lessons. All levels are catered for. We have been fortunate enough to receive funding from Swim Ireland to subsidise the much loved weekly swimming lessons making them both fun and affordable.
